We have a picky eater in this house. Lately, I have tried to introduce one new food a day into his menu. Yes, it is usually a fight, remember we are dealing with a 3 year old. One bite is all I am asking for from the ‘new food’ category. Fresh farm food – hands down is my favorite. As I have said before, my in-laws have a garden bigger then our house. Luckily we get to reap the benefits. Our little guy helped plant a few of the veggies. Luckily, again for us, his pre-school also planted a veggie & herb garden. Finally, the other day, I mentioned to him, “That is what you helped plant. When you dug in the dirt & helped water, that is what came up. Farm Food!” For some reason, it clicked! “Farm Food” as in tractor, dirt, running, jumping, playing in the water = Farm Food. Finally, the one bite rule is okay with him. Sometimes, we even get a few more bites. I guess not only is it in the presentation of food, it’s the words you use. Farm Food, who knew it would get this picky eater to try a few new things on a regular basis?
Btw, remember the blueberry buckle I mentioned last week? I made it. I skipped the topping & made it with whole wheat flour. The picture (2nd from the top) is it, along with my husband’s concoction = vanilla yogurt & a little granola on top. Yummy.
While we are on the subject of foods…Oatmeal Brulee anyone???
I read about it in my fave Cookie Magazine, and found this mouth water picture & recipe here. (P.S. you don’t have to have one of those flame-brulee making tools -either!) We are forecasted for a cooler rainy weekend. Brulee Oatmeal sounds perfect for a rainy weekend morning. Don’t ya think?
See you next week!
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here & reading my posts! I’ve started truncating my posts, so please click over to read the rest of the story!

THANK YOU!

Oh my goodness..another confirmation that I want to be your friend (do I say that in every post?) For reals though Kellie, if anybody brought me farm fresh veggies or made me the kind of food in your post then I’d be in heaven.
Keep at it with the picky eater because I have given on way too much for the sake of not doing one more fight. I wish I were better. Hey at least they’ll eat quinoa. Have you tried that yet?
Hopefully the weekend treats you well. I plan on hitting as many 50% off sales @ Goodwill….mmm therapy.
Learning about you from our friend at “Full House.” Love your blog. It is going on my list of blogs to visit. Love what we have seen here.
That food looks lovely. It is making me hungry. One bite at a time with the new foods is the best way to help the picky eater. Have fun with that.
Love that house that you made in the other post and now on “Full House.”
We will be back thank you fro a lovely blog to come visit.
Have a good weekend.
