displays at the market {craft show}

Since I poured my heart & tips of my fingers into a craft show/booth last week, I thought I would share some pictures & some tips I learned along the way.  Although, this was my first time to have a craft booth – doing displays & visual is almost second nature to me from when I was in the working world.  So with the help of my previous employment before becoming a s@hm, I knew in my head that I needed to focus on 2 things before the craft fest took place.

1.  A sign or banner to attract people to my booth
2.  Enough product to attract them to stay at my booth

Many vendors have professionally made signs, or handmade businesses use a lot of the classic bunting style to showcase their business name.  I personally wanted something a little different.  I wanted something that could still go up high & have a handmade/artsy feel.  So when I saw this lovely picture below on pinterest…I knew I could make a statement recreating it & personalizing it for my booth.
So I got to work & penciled out a tree & then used a Sharpie Mean Streak in white to finish out the stick tree.  I ordered some pom pom trim & my bff, Susan Lucci cut out the letters for my fabric circles turned ornaments.

I attached the craft paper to the curtain with sticky back velcro strips
And presto…I had the cutest Christmas banner with my shop name on it.
;)

My second focus was having ready to buy goods.  I knew there was no way possible to have several bags made & supply my orders on hand, so my bags were the only thing I took orders for.  I made a few for examples & took orders at the table.  But my posie clusters, scarves, rosette bands & other hair accessories I had plenty made & ready to buy along with a few printable signs.

I used my old faithful spray painted white goodwill frame, to showcase my headbands.  I stapled chicken wire to the back of it & used clothespins to attach the bands.  It really was the perfect display for them.

All of my containers for the table came from the house.  I didn’t buy anything special to display my goods.  I knew I needed some display pieces to go high & also I knew I could always use baskets.  I think I had a good mix of up & down in height for a good visual display.

I used treat bags to wrap the clusters & headbands.  They were perfect & so cheap.  I only had one scarf of each color out for people to try on.  I wrapped all the others before hand = we gotta protect our goods, ya know. ;)

It was a huge learning experience for me.  Tons of prep work, but it was also so rewarding to see people react to something you made.  It was exciting & exhausting.  But I am so thankful I did it!
Any of you having a craft booth before the holidays?  I would love to see pictures!  Send me an email or link it in the comments below.  I always love to see creativity at work.  ;)

  1. I’m trying to get ready for one the first week of Dec. I’ve only done one show before and it was indoors – this one is outside and I have to provide everything. Needless to say, I’m looking around for ideas. Suggestions are welcome. :-)

  2. Oops, meant to say that your display was amazing. Love the handmade banner and all your lovelies for sale.

  3. Kellie the display look was awesome!!! Can I just tell you, how many people LOVE my scarf you sent me! I can’t wait to pin the felt flowers to a winter hat!!!! Jessica (aka nucheysmommy)

  4. We truly think alike! I just had my first craft show and I had almost the same frame (painted pink, though!) with chicken wire! I also used things from around my house. I love your display, especially the backdrop! It’s amazing!!!

I will share my pics soon!

  5. I have done two booth sales now, and what people most commented on was the display and my banner. Your’s looks perfect! Eye appeal is what draws them in. And then, of course, great product.

  6. Kellie, you shop sign turned out so cute! So was your booth, sounds like a fun time.

  7. Your booth looks lovely! The display is very visually pleasing & that wire tired basket is too cute.

I had a booth at our church’s fall festival, which I sold quite a bit of Christmas product. Here’s a link to my post about it.

    All the best!

  8. Kellie your booth turned out so great! Didn’t expect anything less from you though girl! I don’t know how you do it all. I absolutely love the Christmas tree drawn out on craft paper. Such a cute idea. So glad it was a success! oxo

  9. Oh boy this post is just what I needed! We are doing a craft show in December and these are, of course, the same things I have been struggling with. I can make it look cute, but really, having enough merchandise ready to sell is overwhelming. I am glad to see that you made it through and survived intact. Your sign is darling! Lisa~

  10. LOVE your booth!! My Mom and I have a booth in a local store and it’s time to decorate for Christmas. :o )

  11. Wow if I saw your booth at a market I would definitely go to it and stay to look at stuff! Too cute!

  12. Great piece of work. Hope that you will go ahead to create creative and outstanding post like that.
