This post is for the record books, folks.
It’s not often you’ll find a size 10+ 12+ gal, who has back rolls, love handles, bra strap rolls & who has given birth to twins – no less, exposing her back.
Only for you all, would I dare brave this crazy back roll exposed position of modeling to offer the “cuuutest” DIY accessory you can do in minutes!
Supplies:
a sweater – I used one that wasn’t too old, but not too new
felt
scissors
fabric glue
straight pins
- print out the heart template. *note you may have to adjust the size of the hearts, per body type*
- cut your felt using the template
- try on your sweater & pin where the back of your elbows hits the sleeve of your sweater
- using your fabric glue – trace the outline of the heart & apply to the appropriate elbow spot on your sweater
- allow plenty of time to dry
It’s a cute, super cheap, instant update to a boring sweater or shirt that anyone can do!

Love this idea! So cute for Valentine’s Day!!
Wow lady, you are so incredibly talented and beautiful! This is such a fun project. I received a sweater with elbow patches for Christmas, but I am going to pick up an Old Navy sweater I can wear for Valentine’s Day with some of my own patches : )
I love this! And I have just the sweater that could use some purdy elbow patches.
This is one adorable idea! Love it!
I love this for so many reasons!
1. I love the look of elbow patches.
2. The possibilities are endless.
3. It seems quick and easy.
4. It’s super affordable.
5. What a fabulous way to update your clothes!!!
I get so bored with mine, and this would be a great way to solve that problem, save money, and have an excuse to do a project (without feeling the guilt of not doing work, laundry, etc.) I love this and can’t wait to try it. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Kellie, you and your elbow patches are adorable!
You look HOTT in this picture!!!

These are so cute! I want to do it to my daughter’s hand-me-down sweaters that show a bit of wear from the older sister.
You look beautiful! I love your headband. Did you make it?? Pinning this cute project.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! SO CUTE!!!
first of all,UHM what?! You look great!! and what a cute idea- you can make any kind of shape!!
This is super adorable!!! I’m getting my felt out right now!! I have to try this!!
I am seriously loving elbow patches! I have minimal crafting experience, but I think I could pull this off. One question, will the liquid stitch hold up if I were to do a leather patch instead of felt?
oh gosh, i don’t know about leather. i haven’t tried that. next time you’re in a craft store see what the bottle says. sorry i’m no help.
Thanks for getting back to me! I went ahead and did it…. love it! When I wash it I’ll just put it in a garment bag on the delicate cycle. So excited about my elbow patches! Thanks for the inspiration!
YAY! it’s so funny that you commented on this post (it’s an old post) i was just thinking of doing elbow patches today on a spring sweater! maybe tomorrow! Have a super weekend.
