how to grow seedlings - {seeds}

I don't think seedlings could look any cuter!  This is the oh so adorable idea of Lilledale from last year.  It's a celebration & a fresh start to new beginnings all at the same time.  I love it!

I had better clear the air first.  I am not an expert by any means when it comes to gardening.  I love the joy in seeing something you've planted that was very small, grow to be abundant & produce fruit or veggies of your labour.   But for the record, I don't like all that labour.  ;)  I've watched my mom do it as long as I can remember (if that even counts??? ;) but I'm still rather clueless about some things when it comes to gardening.  I do know ~ 'tis the season for inside seedlings, planning & prep work to prepare your soil.  So here's a round up of some ideas I've found & love.

Luckily for me, I have 3 little kids who love dirt & I *hope* have the passion about watching things grow like my mom does.

Here's an excellent post on the best time to start seeds.

Make your own DIY potting soil - there's a video to watch as well.

Cheap & basically free newspaper pots.  So easy.

Toilet Paper rolls.  I mean seriously...so clever, right?

LOVE this DIY plastic terrarium.  There's hardly any English written in this post, but I think we can all grab the concept behind her genius idea.

More eggs.  But so fun for the little kids because of the size.

I don't know about all of you, but I cook with lemons a lot & we eat oranges like crazy.  Such a cool idea!

I threw this in the mix.  I may be "reaching" a tad...but I noticed this pallet is attached to a wall on a porch.  Obviously, not inside but in warmer climates - it may just work for seedlings.

The plan is to buy some seeds this weekend & let the kids each have a dozen eggs to plant seeds in.  Here's hoping they each have some that grow like crazy!!!
Anyone else planting seeds soon?

These are such sweet ideas! We have had such a warm winter, that I say ...bring on spring!! ;)

Here in New England, we have had a nice winter (that translates into hardly any snow). We just ate the last of the kale from the garden. My husband has been working on his compost pile since fall - he calls it his "black gold". It's time to start the seedlings - these ideas are terrific.

Thanks for sharing my little Eggy planters. The best part is that when you are ready to plant them you just dig a hole, crack the shell and plant the whole thing. Have a great day!
