We’re Back…

September 28, 2009 by Kellie

Our trip was great. It was the perfect time to get out of town! The kids did unbelievably well. Chief & I walked 20+ miles a day. (not really, my feet just feel like we did.) We got a super deal last minute, and I do mean last minute on Travelocity. Flight + room. Just one lay-over, total travel time one way 5.25 hours. Again, perfect. Our hotel room was perfect for us. 2 miles from the National Mall (where the Smithsonian Museums, Capitol, & monuments are located.) Right in the hub of the city. Ate great food, Graham got to experience so much, Chief had never been, AND he flew!!! (First time, in y-e-a-r-s!!!) I’ll post some of our trip pics in a later post. I’ll try not to bore everyone with the usual pictures you see of DC – once I get them all organized. Oh, and btw, this is Madi’s new pose. Not really sure how, what, or why…but she is striking this pose very often lately. Silly girl.

Here is all three looking out our hotel room. Graham loved that window. No matter what time of say it was, he wanted the blinds up. He couldn’t get enough of looking out the window. Naturally, the twins couldn’t get enough of being by big bro.

Taken right before our nightly routine. All three of them, always, surrounding their Daddy.

I am extremely grateful for our time away. For a vacation. It had been several years, that we actually went on a trip. I am so thankful for the break away. As all know, the South has been drenched with rain. Day after day, storm after storm. Rain. So much rain. We had almost perfect weather on our trip, but while we were away the South continued to get drenched. A dear friend from years back house got totally flooded up to the top of her garage and first floor in Atlanta while we were away. She lives in a normal 2 story house, in a sub-division. I am sure most of you have seen the pictures of the flooded neighborhoods in Atlanta. Hearing & reading her emails, brought a whole new gratitude over my heart. I am so thankful to come home to a house that was not damaged by rain. (messy, but not damaged.) I am so thankful to open the dresser drawers and not see standing water in the drawers. I am grateful that God protected us on our trip away, and that we are safely home. I am thankful for our roof, for our house, for our belongings. No matter what they are, whether they are the cheapest or the most expensive. I am grateful for it all. I can’t imagine what she, her husband, and two young sons are going through right now. God is good. God is good all the time. I am thankful for this thankfulness. (If that makes any sense???) I appreciate my clutter, stack of bills to pay, laundry to do in my own house, beds unmade, toys scattered here & there, I am grateful for it all. God has been so good to us. And I am so grateful to be reminded of this, yet again.

I will post more pics in a later post. But for now, I have a thankful heart & am appreciating all the tasks of unpacking, laundry doing, & organizing – in my own home!
