bringing home the bacon…

December 14, 2009 by Kellie

Just to be clear, you all know I LOVE THIS GUY A WHOLE LOT??!!! RIGHT? Well, I DO!!! I can’t imagine my life without him. But sometimes, when you send a man shopping, who knows WHAT you are going to end up with!!!

This last week was a little crazy for us. Well, I know for all of us it has been. It is December – hello. We had an unusual amount of commitments, extended family obligations, friends, a school Christmas program, etc. So when Chief said, “I’ll hurry & go grocery shopping for you, so you don’t have to go.” Well, let’s just say, it was music to my ears. I don’t mind going to the store once a week. But here lately it seems like every.single.day. we are running out of something that I forgot to put on a list. Yes, my list making needs some work. I will loudly admit it. So after 5 hours. 5 hours, people!!!! My husband, aka as the Chief returns from the grocery store.

So he leaves for his 2-3 day trip for work. I begin my Saturday without ANY commitments to attend. Just a good old fashion stay-at-home in your pjs, Saturday. I decided Saturday morning, that again I would not take a shower. I would rather have that time for computer or blogging. The twins had been nursed, all 3 were playing peacefully together. Why not log on to the blog world? So, naturally, I got lost in a blog reading who knows what, when the kids had reached their limit & wanted breakfast – STAT! Not knowing or seeing anything Chief had bought the day before, I proceed to make a simple eggs, bacon, toast, jam type meal. When I pull out the biggest, thickest, longest, family pack of bacon, I just shock my head. WHY do men love to get the biggest packs of meat – ever? Then, I proceed to get the eggs out. Which I am grateful we had some to fry. But he bought the pack that only has 6 eggs??!! Hello, we are a family of 5. It is Christmas baking season. And we have a pack of 6 eggs. I can totally understand his love for meat. After all, this is what he does & loves on the side. So I really do get the meat part.

The eggs, the 5 hours, and all the other crazy and weird stuff, no. But that is Chief. You never know what might strike his interest. He is so low maintenance. He never expects anything. He really is a guy that goes with the flow. Most of the time…until he comes home, after you have had the entire day prior in your pjs, have done nothing to the house, played, baked, & made a huge mess in the kitchen that you opted not to clean until the next day, and announces that he has invited some friends over for dinner in a few hours.

me: WHAT?
Chief: Well, I figured we could cook some of the stuff I got at the grocery store, and invited them over for dinner.
me: WAIT, in a few hours? And, I haven’t had a shower in days… you mean for dinner, tonite?
Chief: Well, yes. I thought about inviting them while I was at the store the other day.

me: – thinking loudly to myself, – he is NEVER going grocery shopping again!

And to show that our Saturday was spent mainly in our pjs. Well, the twins got dressed around 1, Graham & I opted to stay in our pjs. Here is a picture to prove it!

So here’s to making lists out & a great start to the week!
