6 more days…

August 4, 2011 by Kellie

The countdown is on.
There’s a lump in my throat just writing this post.
6 more days until Kindergarten.

I think we’ve done everything that we’re suppose to do off the list & then some.
We got a new Kindergarten do

some new shoes

supplies

But I noticed there’s no memo that tells you how to prepare yourself when you actually drop them off.  We had registration 2 days ago, and I was overwhelmed with emotions – just doing the paperwork.  I was so caught off guard.   His poor teachers probably thought I was nuts.  I plan on holding on to this last weekend as tight as I can.

In the meantime, have you see this fantastic idea?

It’s all over pinterest & the web right now, and I am soooooo going to do this.  Click on the link for How Does She to sign up for the free printables for every grade, I believe.  LOVE this idea & to take a picture on the last day of school to see how much they’ve grown.

Alright, I’m off to give my fresh-hair cut, *almost* kindergartner more hugs.

Be back soon with a great giveaway!

Hello! I’m so glad you’re here & reading my posts! I’ve started truncating my posts, so please click over to read the rest of the story!
THANK YOU!

Oh goodness, I wish I could tell you drop off would be easy, I can tell you this… Keep a BRAVE front for him and as soon as you race to the car ball your eyes out, go home eat some junk food, cry some more, followed by more junk food… and then, it will be time to pick him up… It will be the BEST feeling of your whole day… Good Luck…

Awww. Very bitter sweet I would imagine. My son is only 3 but heck, I find myself boggled with emotions every time he does something new and then I go on proclaiming that my little baby is growing up to fast!

    Have a super-fantastic weekend! 🙂

Aw! As a former kinder teacher I can assure you that your normal mom emotions are expected and no one will this you’re the “crazy” one! Just keep your good bye simple and heartfelt and everyone will be better for it. There is nothing worse than the parent’s who drag it out and make a scene! THOSE are the crazies! Happy almost-first-day-of-school!

Awww, so bittersweet. I wish I could be supportive, but alas I made my husband TAKE OFF WORK to manage me the first days my babies went to kindergarten because I was such a mess! I am already dreading Carter going and he is only two LOL!

So yeah – not much help, am I?

PS – it will be great – you will love to see his proud face when he runs to you after his fun day and tells you everything he did. Your heart will swell with pride as you watch him learn SO many new things. It will be great…but sad…but mostly great =) Hang in there, mama!!!

Hang in there. Somehow YOU will survive (speaking as a teacher here). I’m a September baby so I just made the cut off. I remember my mom asking me if I wanted to wait another year. NO WAY! I was ready. Now, I think she just wasn’t. lol

    * BTW, I do love the photo idea.

Voyeur reader here. Just wanted to say that we are both in the same boat this fall. My little guy is starting kindergarten in nine days, and I am already experiencing throat lumps and a tight chest. http://slow-breathing.blogspot.com/2011/07/back-to-school-shopping.

We moms need to support each other. This one is going to be rough.
