Fall Felt Leaf Wreath

August 30, 2012 by Kellie

Well, hello there.
Can we discuss my favorite of all favorites?
The best season of all?
The season where the air is crisp, the colors are warm, and the sun glistens like gold everywhere you look?
Oh yes, indeed Fall is almost here.
I thought I would kick off the season with a fun wreath full of the glorious colors of Fall.
I honestly can say, I am always so inspired when Fall comes around.
My adjectives become bigger in the Fall.  Everything becomes glorious, glistening, or glowing.
My food consumption for Fall turns into everything pumpkin, pumpkin & more pumpkin.
My clothing typically can reflect the hues of turning leaves paired with a stripe.
(Remember I came out of the womb loving stripes.)
My car naturally turns into every flower market and/or pumpkin stand in a 50 mile radius.
I’ve even trained my husband to now think this way.  God love him.
So as always, I turned to my favorite felt fabric & made the leaves from this die by Accuquilt.  Or you can use these templates to cut by hand.  I hand stitched the vines on each leaf, which was the most time consuming part, & wrapped yarn around a wreath form while I was watching TV the other night.  I pinned the leaves to the yarn wrapped wreath & presto my first inaugural Fall craft of 2012 was done.  😉
Fall Felt Leaf Wreath - would be gorgeous against any background. Great pops of color! via Nest of Posies

I was dying to see how it looked on our yellow front door!  I love all the colors together.  I have a few more plans for our porch this Fall, but that will have to wait for another post.   So how about you, have you started any Fall projects?

Woo Hoo! Bring on the fall!! Love the colour mix- the turquoise really modernizes it! Did you hand-cut those leaves or use a Cricut or something? By the way, the hard work you put into stitching the veins was well worth it! Love the detail it adds!

I love fall too! Here in Wisconsin fall is short lived, which is a tad bothersome. Your wreath is gorgeous! Did you use a stencil, a Silhouette to cut your leafs? Tell us more about this felt. It looks divine. When I make a wreath I always put the stuff on the right (when you are looking at it). I never think to put it on the left. I think I am going to have to start switching things up 🙂
