Caramel Apple Popcorn

September 10, 2012 by Kellie

Goodness me, I’m quite guilty of associating seasons with food.  If it’s seasonal, I’ll eat it.  Even better if it has seasonal carbs.  It’s like I’m having a mini celebration of a season when I’m eating seasonal food.  I can’t resist.  Hence, Caramel Apple Popcorn.  Our weather got cooler this weekend, it’s was just the right thing to do, for heaven’s sake.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Caramel Apple Popcorn
1 bag of popped Orville Redenbacher’s TENDER WHITE
1 cup of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios
3/4 – 1 cup caramel Bits (melted)
1/2 cup of Hershey’s chocolate chips (if desired, melted)
a few teaspoons of water

Pop your popcorn in the microwave.  Please use *Tender White* trust me there is a difference.  Spread on large cooking tray.  Mix in you Apple Cinnamon Cheerios with your popped popcorn on your tray.  In a microwaveable bowl or cup, melt your caramels on 15 second intervals.  Stir every 15 seconds until melted.  *you may add water to thin it down* just add a teaspoon of water at a time while stirring.*

Once your caramels are melted & you have a thin consistency, drizzle your caramel over your popcorn & Cheerios.  Add melted chocolate chips if you so desire to your mixture.  You may have to stir it lightly around to blend everything.

Allow time for your caramels & chocolate to dry & set in the popcorn.  Eat & enjoy.  Or wrap in clear bags to hand out.  If you plan on storing it, place in air tight container, storing overnight is not recommended.

I’m on the lookout for anything Fall, because I’m ready to have mini celebration(s) all week!  How about you?

Can we also discuss the fact that they finally got smart & started making those mini Caramel Bits for melting?  How sweet is that?
