Sweetie Pie Style

So here’s Jackie’s tips & very smart “words of wisdom” on what to wear to a blogging conference…

Hi there, I’m Jackie and I write the style blog Sweetie Pie Style.  I stay on top of the trends so you don’t have to, and translate them into wearable style for the everyday gal like you and me!  Kellie thought it would be fun if I created a few outfits inspired by the slew of blogging conferences that are coming up in the next few months.  I happen to be going to one myself at the beginning of April called LuckyFABB, and my wheels have been spinning trying to plan out fun outfits for the two day conference.  There is no better time to just go for it than at a blog conference.  Being surrounded by like-minded creatives who will appreciate your unique style, makes for the perfect opportunity to let it shine!  I’ve created one daytime look, in which I kept comfort in mind (for hours of sitting in panels and the such) and one evening look for the fun cocktail or dinner parties there are sure to be after-hours!

For this daytime look I started with the fun floral pants and went from there.  Florals are big for spring, so why not go bold with this fun pair of pants!  Keep your top super simple to even out the look.  This white eyelet top is a great option-I love the texture.  Throw on an easy denim jacket for an added layer, it may get chilly in those air conditioned rooms!  A statement necklace (Anthro has the best) rounds out the look and is a great conversation starter!  Don’t forget to pick cute accessories as well: a business card case to keep your cards in pristine condition; a cute iPhone case because it is sure to be glued to your hand the entire time (the tweeting! the instagramming!); a pretty notepad for jotting down all the great ideas you are sure to learn; and, of course, a custom blog bag from Nest of Posies to tote it all in!
Now for the fun part, getting all gussied up for the evening!  Whether it be a dinner party or cocktail hour, it’s time to mix and mingle with your friends in high style!  Skip the little black dress (yawn!) and go for a fun print like this polka dot number.  An a-line dress like this (also known as fit and flare) is super flattering for all body types.  I picked out accessories in of-the-moment mint, like this necklace and bracelet, which is a hot color for spring.  Lastly, add some shine with a metallic clutch, and round out the look with a pair of playful red heels. Don’t forget a swipe of red lipstick, it is a blogger staple you know!
Like I said before, a blog conference is a great time to get creative with your wardrobe. Experiment with color and pattern.  Wear those things that you always wanted to, but maybe felt a little sheepish wearing just to the grocery store.  You definitely want to stand out from the crowd and be remembered, so now is not the time to play it safe.  Make a lasting impression in a fun way starting with your personal style!
