DIY Mod Podge Canisters

May 12, 2020 by Kellie

Hello friends!  I’m excited to share these (updated) DIY Mod Podge Canisters!  Several years ago, I painted these canisters, and I felt it was time for new look.

9 (NINE !!!) years ago these canisters were bright green & yellow.  They’re actually from Williams Sonoma, and I remember at the time some people were made that I painted them white.  Here’s some stock photos for reference:

You can view my post from 9 years ago, on how I updated them with paint.  Just to note, that I do not use these canisters to store food.  They’ve been on my laundry room shelf, basically collecting dust.  But I’m doing a little cosmetic work on my laundry room (that I’ll be sharing soon!), and decided to give them an updated look.

I decided to take the old vinyl lettering and numbers off the canisters from the previous update. I found these black & white sketched leaves, and decided to go for it and create these DIY Mod Podge Canisters.

At the bottom of this post, there are 2 free printables made out of these sketched leaves.  So if some of you wanted to do the same, all you have to do it print, cut & Mod Podge.  My only suggesting when doing these leaves is that you cut them super close to the outlines.  I personally like to use the “Matte” finish Mod Podge, but use whatever you like.

The other thing I love about this project is that it cost me basically 0 (zero) dollars.  I had everything on hand to make these DIY mod podge canisters.  I think these leaves would be really pretty on a some painted terra cotta pots as well.  You can always use printed paper napkins if you wanted a more colorful project.  (I’ve linked some at the bottom of this post.)

Currently these canisters are in my kitchen, but I  intend to move them back to my laundry room.  I absolutely love how they turned out!  Fist pump for another quarantine project marked off my list!  Ha! If you’ve never done Mod Podging before, it’s quite easy.  It goes on white, but will dry clear.  The glue will hold whatever you are mod podging firmly in place.  Hopefully soon, I’ll be sharing my updated laundry room with you all.

There are 2 printables available to use for personal use only.
