Pineapple Cake Topper Printable Template

No matter if you just frost your cake with yellow icing or go all out – this cake will turn out sooooo cute!  The Pineapple cake topper printable template is at the bottom of the post.  It’s perfect to make for a birthday party or just to celebrate summer!

Let me go ahead and get this out of the way ~ I would never in a million years call myself a cake decorator.  My hands are too jittery to do all those fun details.  But this pineapple cake can be done by even this rookie!  Cute cake toppers are my jam.  I absolutely love them.  They’re like a statement piece or a bold piece of jewelry.

The back story on this cake, is that one of my son’s teachers asked me to make a pineapple cake for her daughter’s birthday.  Of course she gave me a few ideas she had seen on Pinterest.  And to be honest, this is a combo of several inspiration pictures along with a few ideas of my own.

Other than the ribbon, hot glue, scissors & 2 skewer sticks – I just used foam paper for the topper, eyes, cheeks & the border to hold up the ribbon.  You can find foam paper at crafts stores, but I got mine from here.  When you’re cutting out the Pineapple Cake Topper Printable Template you’ll notice that the foam paper does not show the grease stains from the frosting.  So that was a total win in my book!

You can see that my frosting tips are not perfect!!!  But that’s the beauty of this cake.  No one really pays attention to your frosting – they’re looking at the adorable cuteness of it all.  I used this Wilton Star tip for the frosting.  Also, this recipe for the frosting – of course with lots of yellow food coloring added into the mix.  I had the McCormick brand of food coloring on hand, so that’s what I used for my yellow. To attach the eyes, cheeks & mouth I used melted chocolate.  They held in place really well using the melted chocolate.

Can you tell my Pineapple Cake Topper Printable Template is hand drawn.  LOL – It’s not perfect, but I love the total look it creates. I just hold it securely on top of a foam paper & start cutting.  It’s really easy.  For the bottom part – I    just 4 strips of foam paper that was the same size & hot glued the polka dot ribbon to it.  Then I    carefully placed it over the cake after the cake was in the fridge overnite.  It’s not really attached to anything.  It will just stand there perfectly, thanks to the thickness of the foam paper.  Gosh, I love that stuff.
